В същия ден се упокои и преподобният отец Атанасий в Мидикийския монастир (който се намираше във Витиния), след като живя добродетелно и съвършено угоди на Бога. На неговия гроб по Божие повеление израсна кипарис, чиито листа бяха целебни и лекуваха по чудесен начин всякакви болести заради молитвите на преподобни Атанасий.
