伊塞多拉于公元4世纪在塔伯尼斯修道院修行。为了隐藏美德以及修行，伊塞多拉佯装成疯子。伊塞多拉做最卑贱的活计，吃别人剩下的饭菜，她服侍所有的人，但是却遭到他人的歧视。当时，上帝的天使向伟大的修行者皮蒂里穆揭示了伊塞多拉的秘密。皮蒂里穆来到了伊塞多拉的修道院，当他看到伊塞多拉时跪倒在她面前。伊塞多拉也跪倒在他面前。之后，修女们告诉皮蒂里穆，伊塞多拉是个疯子，但是伊塞多拉回答说：“你们所有人都是疯子，伊塞多拉在上帝面前比我、甚至比你们当中的任何人都大。我真的希望在可怕的审判时上帝能够给我同伊塞多拉同样的赏赐。”众修女们都感到非常羞愧，并请求伊塞多拉和皮蒂里穆的原谅。从那时起，大家都非常敬重伊塞多拉。为了逃避人们的荣耀，伊塞多拉逃离了修道院，来到了一个无人知晓的地方，并于公元365年离世。
