Der ehrwürdige Abrahamios (russ. Awraamij) war der Onkel von der seligen Maria, die er von Jugend erzogen hatte. Sie lebten im 4. Jahrhundert bei Ephesos und waren Zeitgenossen des ehrw. Ephrem, dem Syrer. Nach der Überlieferung wirkten die beiden Heiligen rund fünfzig Jahre lang in einer Hütte als Einsiedler. Eines Tages verließ Maria den ehrwürdigen Abraham und ging in die Stadt, das weltliche Leben zu genießen. Doch nach langem Zureden wurde Maria von ihrem Onkel Abraham bekehrt und widmete wieder ihr Leben Gott. Etwa 5 Jahre nach dem Tode ihres Onkels (um 360) starb auch die Selige.
