Sfîntul Hristu a fost de neam albanez, cu credinta crestin iar cu îndeletnicirea, gradinar în cetatea Constantinopolului. Pe cînd îsi vindea într-o zi legumele sale la piata, un turc s-a simtit insultat de purtarea lui Hristu fata de el si 1-a clevetit la stapînire, cum ca gradinarul Hristu ar fi fagaduit sa se faca musulman, iar apoi s-a razgîndit. Hristu a fost anchetat si aruncat în temnita. Acolo, cineva i-a oferit ceva de mîncare, dar el a zis: „Este mai bine sa ma înfatisez flamînd înaintea Stapînului meu Hristos." Apoi, a scos de la brîu niste bani pe care îi avea si, dîndu-i celor întemnitati ca si el, i-a rugat ca dupa ce vor iesi din temnita sa plateasca Sfinte Liturghii la Biserica pentru odihna sufletului lui. El a fost omorît de turci prin decapitare la anul 1748, si s-a preaslavit vesnic întru Cereasca împaratie de catre Hristos Domnul.
