Timp de douazeci si sapte de ani el a dus o viata ascetica foarte stricta, tintuindu-si duhul catre lumea cea de sus. în timpul domniei lui Decius a fost tîrît în fata curtii de judecata unde a fost biciuit pentru Numele lui Hristos pîna cînd dupa mari chinuri si-a dat sufletul sau lui Dumnezeu.
